Removal Requests

Incident Response is a recognized news media outlet.

The work of Incident Response, including the pictures and video of incident scenes, is legally protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

In the State of Wisconsin, Incident Response is sometimes afforded special accommodation, such as access to crime and accident scenes and the ability to videotape court proceedings.

It is the policy of Incident Response to not remove pictures or videos from its website or social media platforms of incident scenes or events. Why is this our policy? Our work is legally protected by federal, state and local laws. Incident Response, as any other news media outlet such a TV station or newspaper, has the right to document incidents that occur in public or on private property from the public view.

If you wish to request the removal of content in which you appear based on your belief it violates your privacy, you do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy in public. In other words, if you are involved in a motor vehicle crash on a public street, Incident Response does not need your permission to photograph or film you, your family members or the vehicles involved. We also do not need permission from you or any other parties involved to publish the content.

To request the removal of content from the Incident Response website, send a written request to the address below. Be sure to include the following information in your request:

  • Your full name
  • Your complete address
  • Your date of birth
  • A phone number where you can be reached
  • The date and location of the incident scene or event
  • Why you are requesting the removal of the content

Your request will not be reviewed and will be discarded if you fail to include all of the above information required.
